It is so interesting to read the commentary about recent shopping trends and changes in the U.S. I guess what is so strange to me is that when I'm out and about everything seems so normal - - on my way to class I see lots of people sipping starbucks lattes, 70-80% of people in my classes purchase drinks and food from nearby restaurants daily and bring them in to eat... I don't go shopping very often myself (and when I do I prefer the internet) but I've gone out for gifts quite a bit recently and the stores seem busy... But then the news is brimming with plummeting stock portfolios and stories about changing shopping habits. I have no clue what to make of it all! Seems like a disconnect. ?
